The Army National Guard has many service options available. You decide which is the best fit for your lifestyle. There are two paths to service in the Army National Guard, Enlisted Soldier or a Commissioned Officer.

  • Enlisted Soldier - You want to specialize in a career field and have a high school diploma, GED, or plan to get one
  • Commissioned Officer - You want to plan and lead a mission and have a college diploma or plan to get one

WHAT IS ROTC?
Army Reserve Officers’ Training
Corps (ROTC) is an elective curriculum you take along with cadet required
classes. It will give the tools, training
and experiences that will help you
succeed in any competitive
environment. Along with great
leadership training, ARMY ROTC can
pay for your college tuition.

Must have a minimum cumulative 2.5
GPA
Must have a minimum of combined
SAT score of 1,000
Must have a minimum ACT
composite score of 19

The Simultaneous Membership
Program (SMP) scholarship consist of
two, three, or four years scholarship
options based on the time remaining to
complete your degree and the desired
branch of commissioning. The SMP has
a scholarship and non-scholarship
option. Non-scholarship SMP Cadets
have the option to compete for Active-
Duty upon graduation.

Receive a monthly ROTC stipend of
$420
Receive E-5 drill pay each month
($450 on average)
Receive a $1,200 annual allowances
for books and fees
Qualify for up to 100% tuition with
guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty
Scholarship
Commission as a Second Lieutenant
upon graduation

The Minuteman Scholarship is awarded
to high school seniors who will attend or are college students enrolled in a
university with a ROTC program. The
awardee must be able to join or already a member of the Army National Guard. The Minuteman Scholarship can be used in
conjunction with Mississippi State
Education Assistance Program (SEAP).
