Life insurance that protects those who depend on you
Life insurance through the National Guard helps financially protect your family if something happens to you. It is affordable, automatic for most Soldiers and designed to give you peace of mind.
Whether you are single, married or supporting a family, this benefit helps ensure the people who rely on you are taken care of.
Coverage for Guard Soldiers
Many Guard Soldiers are covered through Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (SGLI), a low-cost life insurance option designed for military service. SGLI provides coverage 24/7 while you serve, including during drills, training, deployments and everyday life.
What it includes:
Coverage up to $500,000 (with lower coverage amounts available)
Coverage that follows you on and off duty
Coverage typically continues through age 60, retirement or shortly after leaving service
SGLI is meant to be simple and dependable, so you can focus on serving — not paperwork.
Coverage for your family
If you are insured under SGLI, your family may also be eligible for coverage through Family Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (FSGLI). It’s designed to help financially protect your family, just in case.
Typical coverage includes:
Spouse coverage (up to $100,000, depending on your coverage)
Children are covered up to $10,000
