I have question that my recruiter did not have a clear answer on. After a long wait I am cleared to physical and get the paper work moving. My question is with 3yrs time in grade as an E5 how long will it take me to promote to E6 after I finish WTC?

Your TIG does not carry over from the previous service. The only time the TIG carries over is when you're executing an immediate re-enlistment as defined by NGR 600-200 (any other reenlistment as we know it is considered a prior service enlistment). You'll receive a new DOR (date of rank) which should be the same as your enlistment date.

But you don't need to be totally discouraged because TIG is waiverable and you'll still have the required TIS to move to the next position. All you have to do is demontrate to your chain of command that you're ready for it by using all the experience you have as an E5 to show your competence.
