    i want to know how hard it would be to switch from the guard to active army ??? thanks

    You are certainly welcome to join the active component after you complete your Army National Guard contract. Expect to lose at least one pay grade.

    I did switch from NG to active. It was really not that hard for me. I filled out a "Request for Conditional Release" and wrote a letter stating why I wanted to go active(I enjoyed being a soldier and wanted to make a full time career ou of it). I got aproved and received an Honorable discharge from the NG after serving 4 years of a 6 year enlistment. I was an E-4 and I did not lose rank I think I would have if I was an NCO). The bonus and college money might be an issue. Talk to recuiters on both ends (Active and NG) to see what they have to say.
    When I did in you transfer 6 months after you return from AIT.(not sure if that is still the same, check on that).
