Default Guard vs. regular Army transfer?

Hello, I'm currently a Navy O-2 based in New Orleans and I've been researching a transfer into the regular Army. Additionally, I'm trying to learn what the possibilities might be in the Guard. Since I will be an O-3 when I transfer, I have been told that I cannot get into a combat branch in the regular army. Would there be a similar restriction in the Guard? I'm not really picky on which state I live in, so I would be willing to look for openings in any number of units.

    Thanks

If you're coming from the Navy, then it's a little more complicated. I've brought in a few Navy and Air Force (and even one Coast Guard) officers and I've been able to place them in their career field of choice. You'll need to work with your gaining state's Officer Strength Manager. If you're looking to serve in Virginia, I am glad to work with you. Email me directly, and we'll get started.
