Please explain RSP

I have read everything I could find, and have asked on one of the forums, but still do not have a clear answer of what exactly RSP is. How do you sign up? Where does it take place? Who is there? How often do you go? How long does it last each time and how long over all?

RSP stands for Recruit Sustainment Program. This is to help you learn what to expect during basic. You will learn how to recognize rank, march, stand in formation, map reading skills, do physical training and many other things so when you show up at basic you are better prepared. This is a normal drill, one weekend per month until you ship. You have to enlist into the National Guard to start this program. Here in Louisiana the same day that our soldiers swear in we take them to meet their RSP staff and show them where to report for drill and when, time permitting. Talk to your recruiter to find out where your local RSP is located. Our soldiers report in on sat. morning, spend the night, and then go home sun. afternoon. I hope this helps.

Thank you very much! That is exactly the info I was looking for.
I haven't contacted my local recruiter yet. I would like to have all my ducks in a row bef. I do that. I realize there are some questions only my recruiter would be able to help me with, but asking questions on here is helping me make my list of questions to ask when I go in.
