Default Prior Service - Non-Deployable for a year?

    Hi,

A recruiter told me that PS elistees are non-deployable for a year. Is that true?

    Thanks.

    Your recruiter is partially correct...
Prior service soldiers that have completed a deployment to a combat zone within the last 6 months prior to enlisting in the National Guard, will be provided a period of stabilization equal to one month of "dwell time" for each month deployed. up to 12 months.

Basically, if you were deployed for a year, (ending less than 6 months ago) you will not be deployed for OIF or OEF. This does not include a new federal mobilization directed under Presidental or Secretary of Defense authority.
