the guard and active duty

I am tring to find out how long someone has to serve in the guard before they can go active duty in the army.

There is no specific time requirement. It is all dependent upon your command. Often times your command will have a rule that you can't go for 6 months. I wouldn't expect any less than that.

Keep in mind that if you go active duty after the guard you don't qualify for any active duty bonuses or guaranteed duty station
