Default 09S Basic Training for PS?

OK. I know if you are non-prior, you get sent to BCT.

My question, can they send you to Basic Training if you are prior service and want to enlist in the 09S option?

Reason I ask, is that being older, out of shape, and not having done anything military for 8 years, I think BCT could fix the out of shape and refresh my basic military skills.

    Default 09S for Prior Service

You do not need to attend BCT, even though it may help you get into shape. You may want to ask your local ARNG recruiter about being placed in the RSP (Recruit Sustain Program) while you wait for attending OCS. The RSP is designed for Non-prior Service soldiers to physically and mentally prepare them for BCT and AIT. Some states use this as a way to prepare there OCS candidates, giving them an opportunity to lead/be assistant instructors and to be more physically prepared.

Or, you could lace up the running shoes and start hitting the track.

    Good luck.
