    Default Warrant Questions 251A

    Hi,

I'm prior service Army Guard (E-6) with a Combat Arms MOS. I am interested in going back into the Guard and becoming a Warrant Officer.

I am mainly interested in the 251A MOS. I have 8 years of IT experience. Can I sign up directly into the Warrant program as a WOC? (I live within driving distance of three states that would have multiple openings for this MOS.) Seems like there is a shortage on that one... could it be due to the 5 months WOBC?

Also, does anyone out there know anything about the WOBC program for NG soldiers? ATRRS doesn't have much. There is apparently a pre-test that they determine which sessions you must attend. (So, how much of it does the average NG WO1 attend at the school?)

Also, I know that several WO areas have bonuses associated with them. Does this one?

    Thank you for your time.

Yes, you can enlist for WOCS. Speak to your state's Warrant Officer Strength Manager before you sign a contract, however. The Signal Branch proponent will evaluate your records, and determine how much of the WOBC you must attend to be considered duty qualified. Upon award of the MOS, you are eligible for an accession bonus.

There are several issues right NOW at Ft. Gordon with WOBC completion which should get cleared up im told by OCT 2007.......

    Will see....

I have 14 W01s in my group that are in a holding pattern for WOBC at Gordon. Right now there is no reserve/NG course for the 250 series MOS at Gordon. You must attend it as a PCS for the full active duration. In the past we could piggy back in empty phase 2 seats with ACTIVE duty classes, not happening very well at this time. Major Brown down there can help with scheduling issues and they can waive some of the Army classes based on your certs but there are restrictions on that process....how old is the cert? is it from a boot camp or college, etc.

E-mail me with Qs and i'll point you to Maj. Brown dont have his info handy!
