Any gastrectotomy (removal of all or any part of the stomach), to incuding stomach stapling, is considered a permanent disqualifier.

even though they did not remove any of my stomach? all they did was staple it.

I have applied for a waiver, and have been told it will be approved. Apparently as a prior service member, a waiver is possible. If you are prior service and have had this procedure, at least check it out before deciding you simply cannot re-up.
