    Default Disabled Vet wanting in.

Hello, I was in the Marines 92-96, 0331 machinegunner, and was medically discharged. I am recieving 20% disability from the VA. After my honorable discharge, I had my an operation on my 20% shoulder. It was a successful surgery. I want to join the MN Guard. I'm curious about the possibilities. My Sep Code is JFL1, and my RE code is 3P. I'm interested in 19D.

    You're welcome!

You can probably get in with a waiver. There are lots of vets still serving with disabilities. I have a 10% prior service disability and I'm trying to serve again.

You can serve after receiving a 30% or less disability discharge as long as the pertinent medical waivers are approved.

you may have to waive your disability pay, however, due to the long stretch of time you been out, they may send you back to basic which requires you be 100% for the most part. You'll defintely need a doctor's note. And bring all your documentation they can say your ok but as soon as you get to meps they may deny you without proof your ok.

Angry prior service also turned down re-3p

was just medically disqualified for the ng, for a broken collar bone. I receive 10% disability through the va and the cmo at fort dix said i couldnt physical. im very bummed out and am also 37yo. it gets me the army cant get people to reenlist, but when older prior service want to serve their country again they have to jump through hoops.. i feel proud that at least i tried.

You feel proud that at least you tried. Good for you. I did a similiar thing. My application is being processed. My wavier is expected to arrive by this Fri. I verbally requested OCS since I meet the qualifications posted on the website. I agree. Apply. The recruiter said no, but if no one bothers, who will. I will ask again because their answers on some subjects change. Congrats on having the courage! Take care of yourself. I'll bet there are things you can still do.

    Default Medical discharge

I received a medical discharge from the army in 2000. In 2002 I enlisted into the guard, after a "medical examination" by an orthopedic specialist.. I have been awarded 10% by VA and had a couple options concerning my pay- can't receive disability and duty pay so I took the duty pay and VA withheld the same amount...
I recently requested a re-evaluation and was denied so am considering re-entering NG... We'll see.
