SMP Program
If you are already a member of either the Guard or the reserves, and you are enrolled in a ROTC program, then you are considered a SMP Cadet. This means that you are in the Simultaneous Membership Program. Now you won't actually be a cadet until you contract. This will happen your junior year. Once you contract, you will still be in your respective unit, but you will now be at the rank of cadet. (E-5 pay) Also you will line up with the commander at formations, for now you are in training to become an officer. Another perk is that you will begin receiving a stipend of $350 every month you are in school you junior year, and then $400 a month your senior year. In the summer between your Junior and senior year you will report to what is called "Warrior Forge" this is a mock basic training for cadets as FT. Lewis Washington. When you graduate from college you recieve your commission into what ever branch is assigned you. If you are in the Guard, you are guaranteed your branch, but for active army, you will be competing against every cadet in the country for your spot. You may not get what you want, but that is why you have to constantly be at your best.
That pretty much sums it all up in a nut shell... I hope that helps!
