I was just wondering if you have a 4 year degree already, do you get paid more during basic or not til after?

Yes, with a bachelors degree you enter as an E-4.
you get paid as a Specialist.....it's about 40K a year. Depends on where you live and stuff. Depends on if you have an apartment, house, dependants and stuff too.
Check this cacluator out it's pretty sweet.

There's also pay charts on armytimes.com.
Well you have to be ranked as a specialist. It's possible to get the rank as soon as you join with the degree, but nothing is ever set in stone until you get the contract that states it.
He's including BAH and the tax advantages in that total. The normal base pay is about 23k. Also to the OP- you have to provide a leasing agreement or something that shows you own a house or pay rent to recieve full BAH. Don't automatically go assuming you will get it.
You also have to figure in 30 days paid vacation.
I was waiting for someone to clarify this. That $38,000 a year with 30 days paid vacation specialist salary is for full-time AD only. Otherwise, I would have quit my full-time job yesterday!
Regular ARNG salary for a weekend warrior specialist (1 weekend a month, 2 weeks in the summer) is a little over $250 a month, give or take a few dollars according to your state. You do get full-time AD benefits (Tricare, BAH & full-time pay) while you're away at BCT/AIT or if you're deployed but that's about it.

- Should never have been said.
It's always nice though when you go to a school, or AT....ain't it?
Just for clarification--This is the original question I read from jmooi:
This is the answer I saw in response to that question:
Then I read this subsequent answer in addition to the original statement made above:you get paid as a Specialist.....it's about 40K a year. Depends on where you live and stuff. Depends on if you have an apartment, house, dependants and stuff too. Check this cacluator out it's pretty sweet.
This is the response from another forum member that assumed the same conclusion from following the thread:You also have to figure in 30 days paid vacation.
This is only for a full year, the OP is only going to basic and AIT lol. He won't be getting the full year base pay. Don't raise this poor man's hopes Chappy!

The post is amusing, I enjoy reading these things for serious answers as well as a little humor. I was just wondering if everyone gets paid as a private in basic and then when you pass they bump you up to E-4 or if you get paid as an E-4 during basic no matter what because you already have a degree. Thanks for all the input.
you get paid as your rank, you earned it.
