Thread: Stateside OCS?

  1. #1

    Question Stateside OCS?

Does the 18 month stateside OCS timeframe include your IOBC?. I'm prior infantry and was under the assumption that the stateside program was approximately 9 months of weekend drill and then 4 mos at IOBC in Benning.
If anybody knows a good contact about the OCS program here in Colorado I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Default Ocs

The 18-month OCS program consists of approximately 18 months of weekend drills, or IDTs, with two 2-week Annual Training periods. Let me give you a proposed timeline, using the 2007-2008 OCS class. If you begin OCS in March of 2007, you can expect to attend training one weekend per month through June. In June you will attend a two-week Phase 1. In July 2007 you would continue training one weekend per month through July or August of 2008. This portion of training is called Phase 2. In July or August of 2008 you would attend the final phase of OCS with graduation/commissioning occurring immediately following, or at the next IDT.

IOBC would not take place until you are commissioned. IOBC is approximately 16 weeks of training, regardless of what your MOS was as an enlisted soldier. The first 6 weeks are now referred to as BOLC Phase II. This 6 weeks is a common core training for new 2LTs in all branches, ensuring every officer is training in specific Warrior Leader Tasks. The final 10 weeks will be Infantry-specific training.

There are other OCS options available to you which significantly decrease the timeline for becoming a commissioned officer, but it would be best for you to speak with the Officer Strength Managers in your state. In Colorado you may contact CW2 Tami Fehringer at 720-250-1352, or CW5 720-250-1015. Both of these ladies are great and will be very helpful.

    Good luck.

No, your BOLC time comes after OCS.

Contact CW5 Linda Blinco in Colorado at (720) 847-8708. She might not be the right person, but she knows who is.

The 18 months does not include BOLC II/OBC.
