Default Graduate School and National Guard benefits

I haven't been able to get a straight answer about this. I am currently a National Guard member(4 years of service), and in my second year of undergraduate study. I plan on enrolling in a direct PhD program after I finish my BA. I am enrolled(but not contracted) in my school's ROTC program, but am not sure how the Guard would best benefit me for graduate school, or if it would at all. I know there are some benefits for Master's Degrees, and most PhD programs give you a Masters degree in progress. Can tuition assistance be used towards the program's initial coursework?

A Soldier can use Federal Tuition Assistance at any accredited institution. Each state has its own rules on any state-sponsored educational incentives (in Virginia you can use our State TA for a PhD, but all states do this).

If you are otherwise eligible for ROTC, speak to your Enrollment Officer about applying for a two year Dedicated ARNG scholarship -- pays full tuition, no matter what the cost.
