Default Which is the best officer path for me?

    Hello to all,

I’m 23 located in Miami, Florida and currently Miami Dade College for my paramedics/firefighter certifications. I received a 78 on my ASVAB and was told that I should qualify for every MOS with the National Guard.

First let me tell you about my situation. In November of 2001 I joined the US Army and shipped off to Ft. Benning, GA for bootcamp that same month. During my 4th-5th week of training I injured my knee and was unable to run, jump and i was unable to complete my PT physical requirements. It was a minor injury (no surgery or rehab needed, just rest) and I was offered the option to wait 8 weeks and then restart the cycle or I could be sent home (receiving a Medical Discharge) I chose home (March of 2002).

I was advised that if i wanted to join the military again i would have to wait 2 years and then i could try it again. So years later i'm trying to get back in.. lol

Physically i am active (though a little over weight), i play sports and lift weights and can run with no problem. I figure mentally i have what it takes because i had a fun time in bootcamp prior to the injury. (i got in some trouble lol)

I was discharged with a RE Code of 3 JFW. Which means that I can reinlist but I will need a waiver.

I went back to MEPS, took the asvab again got a 78. I was told to get medical records i have related to my knee because we would need to send them in. I don't have any so i had a physical examination done by my doctor.

Is there a place for me in the National Guard?

I'm looking for some sort of Officer Program. For example the coast guard has a program called the CSPI program (College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative ) in which they will pay for your education (plus salary, housing expenses, and allowance) up until your bachelors after which you go into the program Active Duty.

I want to go in the reserves and am looking for something similar. Any recommendations.

I thank anyone that responds in advance for taking the time to help.

    Thank you
    Looking for advice

Speak to the ROTC enrollment officer at your local college. The National Guard has ROTC scholarships available. You must be otherwise eligible for military service, and it sounds like you have a few issues that can't be solved on this forum.
