I have 2 years left, will be deploying in a couple weeks..my question is, how much can i enlist in the national guard for? also can i do while i'm deployed, ( i ets in dec 2008) do they have tax-free reenlistment like active duty? thanks for any help

First you must finish your Active Duty time and get discharged. Next keep your DD214 close at hand so you can enlist into the Guard after you are discharged from active duty. Yes our bonus is tax free if you re-enlist while deployed in the National guard.

ok so basically, I can't reenlist into the national guard from active duty while I'm deployed? Thats what I was hoping for, instead of re-uping for another so many years active, I wanted to re-up into the national guard. From what I get, I can't re-up at all while still on active duty, wait until I'm discharged, then beat feet to the national guard recruiter and enlist there, but then I won't get a tax free bonus since I won't be deployed. Not what I was hoping for but at least I'll still be serving.
