Default Meps Experience

I've just completed my MEPS proccessing yesterday at 9:30am. I got a 93 on the AFQT and qualified for just about anything i wanted to do in the guard. Moving on, i did have a medical condition that required me to get records and stopped my proccessing early. I have ADD and i just got off the meds 2 weeks ago. I was told by my recruiter that i would have to wait 6 months to a year to swear in. While this is a set back, i am hoping that i can swear in next sunday-monday. My experience was a great one, the staff there were friendly and supoportive, the food was ok and the only bad thing was waitng 6 hours for a shuttle.

Sounds like your overall experience at MEPS was a good one. Why is it that you think you can swear in Sunday-Monday? I'm confused. You need to be off ADD meds for 1 year AND you need documentation from your doctor/school/work stating that you function well without it.

I might be able to get a medical waiver so i can swear in next sunday monday as it takes 3 days to look at the records. If i do get the waiver, i might have to get a psych eval done to prove that i am able to function normaly. My recuriter said he would check regs on if it is 6 months or a year. But, honestly, do you think someone with severe add could score a 93 on the asvab?

    Default Meps?

Wow, you actually made it to MEPS? I'm effing amazed.

Seems like everyone I know got delayed for weeks, and then the new regs came out and they all got put on hold.

    Congratulations!

So James, your state is allowing medical waivers right now?

I do belive so. I may be wrong. But i was told that the onlything keeping me from swearing in was the med record check. That could mean that i can get a waiver or it might not.

Cap- I initaily talked to a recuriter in november of last year. i didnt do the paper work until i convinced my parents that this was the choice for me in april and i went to meps 2 weeks later.

right. I've had to deal with that stigma for years. I've had people deny me jobs b/c i had add and the kids at school were worse. I wont elaborate but just to say that i never made many friends and those friends i did make didn't care that i had add, those were the ones that counted. I hope that once i get in, i can make more friends like that.

"Did the Army Reserve come out and say like the RA & ARNG that they will not accept any waivers, or certian ones?"

I think that might ansewer your question QRN.

Yeah if you were on your pills at the time. One of my friends has ADD, he scored a 78 himself. he has been off the med for a couple months now and my recruiter said he could look the other way since we all know he is fine without it.
