Default 88M AIT School! Can't Wait!

Hello, I will be headed to Fort Leonard Wood for my 88M AIT school sometime in Late Sept / Early October.

Anyone know what the weather is like during those times? I am in Fort Wayne, IN and our weather is pretty decent in that time-frame.

Anyone else going to be there then as an 88M?

    Fellow 88M here,

AIT IS SWEET! Yep we are IED finders at least thats what we are called here at Leonardwood. I cannot believe how much 88Mikes there is

You will have fun dont worry. Also I am glad to see more people going to Knox I have mad respect for that place, the discipline level stands out amongs the soldiers  Not to mention you will be a PT stud when you get done with BCT. Have fun! Keep your head up and drive on keep telling yourself that.

I'm at the 88M Re class school at Ft. Custer Michigan now. its a four week school. we spent the first two weeks driving the M1083, learning convoy operations, IED's, night driving with blackout lights and NVG's. good time so far. Tomorrow we shoot the Ma Duce from a Gun Truck and run some dismount drills with the M4's, live fire, should be a good time too. Then we learn to drive the big stuff, M915's and the PLS's. they condense the regular school into four weeks so it a lot of learning in a short time.

I just got back from 88m ait last saturday. It was a piece of cake! I heard they cut it down to 5 weeks now. I heard but I could never get a straight positive answer from anyone and I was right there where it happens! haha The Sgts didn't even know. I went in the summer so it was HOT HOT and HUMID. October should probably be good...starting to maybe cool down.
I think they cut out FTX but i'm not sure...maybe not. Our ftx was supposed to be 5 days but got cut down to 3 because the IBA's we wear were dirty and over 2/3's of my company got a rash/fungus. It was pretty bad. they had to separate those of us who didn't get it from those who did and sent them to sick call. they locked the IBA's away in a building. Those things were nasty...

Honestly. I strongly disliked AIT. It was very undisciplined. My DS warned us about ait too. haha Things were so different from Basic. I never really got used to it. I learned to deal with it but never got used to it...I'm glad to be outa there. I made some awesome friends there though. I was lucky to go to AIT with a lot of my friends from basic. That made time go faster.

I just graduated 88m school on the 21st of august. It was very boring we were in alpha company and we never got any off post pass. I honesty think the PT was hardier than basic and I went to Sill. Its like m,w,f run 2-4 miles t,thurs muscle failure. U still have to get up at 4 am. But besides the PT it is pretty easy. First week is basic knowledge, 2nd 5 ton, 3rd LHS, 4th M915, 5th FTX is sort of like the FOB at basic u stay in a big tent or shelter looking thing. We did alot of convoys, truck searches, paint ball, guard duty stuff like that. Week 6 u just clean your gear sort of like the last week of basic. Oh also... no offense to any female 88mikes but most the women are... lets just say your standards will go down... But alright brother I'm part of the indiana national guard as well A Co. 113th spt btn muncie... good luck

Hello all. I have to agree with some of the posts. AIT is very undisciplined compared to Knox! I am just starting week 2 tomorrow. Week 1 was a boring class time. Passed the GK test the 1t time no prob. We had a 35% failure rate I think for my class of 102. They just didn't study! It was easy.

5 ton begins tomorrow. Can't wait! We have been cut down to 6 weeks from 7 weeks. I think it is the FTX that they are cutting out due to extreme temps during that time period. We will graduate on the 25th of November unless they cut out the 2nd week of 5 ton like we are hearing. Who knows. I too am with Alpha company. We have a great bunch of Cadre here. They are all very professional yet friendly. Unlike Knox. I will not say many nice things about my Knox DS's. But that is me :)

Well gotta run. Dinner calls. Oh, and we had an off post pass our 1st weekend. They said that it was SUPER rare. Was fun though. We get an on post pass each weekend so long as the bayis clean.

    Laterz!

whos your cadre? I had sfc newton, ssg franklin, and ssg rogan. I think ssg franklin left to go airborne and ssg rogan was getting stationed some place else. I know theres a few others for the other group, I just forgot their names I know the other two cadre male sgts were cool, the women sgt with real short hair boy... when we first got there she use to smoke the **** out of us...
