Thread: Do I have any chance?

Default Do I have any chance?

I have been on here many times before about my blood pressure problems. Well when I went to Meps to ship they took it and it was over the limit and said I could not ship. Well a few weeks later I got a letter in the mail saying I received an uncharaterized discharge and an Re-3 code. I wasn't expecting that but that was 6 months ago. Today I am NOT on any meds and my BP is in the 110's range and I want to serve. However I have heard they aren't giving waivers, so do I have any chance.

I am determined to serve I just want the chance.

Nobody ever said anything about waivers stopping.

Only MORAL waivers have stopped, thats it.

I think if you have a GED and a waiver you are a no go as of right now.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your BP when they refused to let you ship? What were some of the other readings you got at MEPS that didn't automatically DQ you?

    Default Med Waivers

Yes, they've stopped medical waivers. ... this is how Obama is downsizing the Army. Not allowing waivers to be given.

You've got to be kidding me, you didn't do anything wrong and they gave you an uncharacterized discharge with an Re code of 3. What did you do wrong? I mean you got punished for having a medical problem, wow just wow!

    Default Oh no

Obama isn't downsizing the Army; he's cutting funding for future weapon systems. And putting more funding into ground forces.

The 2.9% pay raise is kinda of laughable. (hopefully congress will raise it)

    This is the double wammy.

    1) The Army is having great success at retention.
    2) And great success at Recruiting.

I was reading an article this week, on how the Army has reduced it's recruiting mission again. Going from around 80K in 09 to 55K in 09. The plan was to expand the number of soldiers until 2013, and the Army is way ahead of schedule. The Army is also restructuring the force. To more smaller combat brigades. Thus, the need for more junior grade officers.

I was also reading today that the Marines are changing the way people deploy, so that virutally ALL marines will deploy to OEF or OIF at some point. (At least that was my understanding) (Check the DOD news website).

So Yes, more people have joined, and stayed, making it more difficult to get in. But I wouldn't see not accepting certain waivers, as a method of downsizing the Army.
