    Default SLRP denied

My recruiter called me today and told me that my SLRP was denied because they are not offering it to prior service and I am not MOSQ'd. He told me that I should enlist of 6 years and then after I am MOSQ'd enlist again for 6 for the educational benefits. Does this sound correct He also told me that they almost denied my $15,000 PS bonus because I have a 16 year break in service. Is this someing new? I am supposed to swear in tomorrow and I just wonder why they would deny it. They have my bonus control number so my bonus is go to go but I do not understand the reason for the denial of the education benefits.

The Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) policy clearly states that "Prior Service applicants and current ARNG soldiers with existing loans may enlist or extend at any time for a term of service of no less than three years in order to establish eligibility" The only criteria that must be met is the following:

    a. Be MOSQ'ed for the position for which enlisting or extending (if you're not MOSQ'ed now, you'll be eligible once AIT is completed).

    b. Enlist into a valid and vacant position or against a projected vacancy.

    c. Have not previously received the SLRP as an enlistment/extension option.

You must also remember that the loans can not be at default and the SLRP only applies to specific federal loans. If you meet the criteria, you are eligible to receive the SLRP.
