    Arrow really want to join.

I think I may have posted this already, so I'm sorry if it shows up twice but I dont see the first one. I'm 18 years old and have been interested in joining the guard for a while now. Before I go to talk to a recruiter I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me with. First, I'm leaving for college this monday and am looking in to the college first program. Do the 2-years guaranteed for non-deployment count towards the total 6 years? After the 2-years is it very likely that you'll be immediately deployed? I think I want to do Military Police as my MOS because eventually I want a career in federal law enforcement. What are some pros and cons of this MOS and what does the job actually entail? What is the difference between active/inactive duty? I really want to make this happen, so any feedback would be great. Thanks

I could be wrong but here...from what i understand the 2years is included in your 6 year enlistment. However, the "College First" option is only available until September 30, so if this is what you want to do you need to contact a recruiters assistant or a recruiter. MP's(31B), as well as other critical MOS's, are highly deployable. If this is the career you want, be ready to deploy at anytime. As an MP, some of your dutys could include: Patrolling areas on foot, by car or by boat, interviewing witnesses, victims and suspects in the course of investigating crimes, collecting fingerprints and other evidence
Arresting and charging criminal suspects, training and working with police dogs, testifying in court, or guarding entrances and conducting traffic control. If you are looking to become a Federal agent of some sort, you may want to consider Criminal Investigations Special Agent(31D). If you have anymore questions...feel free to contact me Alphra99@gmail.com.

Your are in an excellent position. First, When you join the Guard your 6 year starts. You won't leave for basic training until June 2007 if you are in college. If you continue with college you'll attend AIT in June 2008. So your 2 years of the college first option won't start until around august 2008. You'll be in a non-deployable status until 2010.

To be eligible for the College First an applicant must agree to complete IADT on a thru-ticket (the Split Training Option is not authorized for CF enlistments). Check NGB-ARH Policy Memo #06-028 which outlines eligibility criteria.
