I'm 18 years old about to start college this monday. I have been thinking seriously about joining the guard for a while now and I have some questions before I go talk to a recruiter. First, under the college first program do the 2years you can't be deployed go towards your 6 year total? I'm thinking about doing the 31B military police MOS because eventually I want to work in federal law enforcement (FBI). What exactly do MP's do? Also, after the 2 years non-deployable is it very likely to be deployed right after that? I'd really love to make this happen but I want all the info I can get before jumping into it, so I'd appreciate any input. Thanks

MPs do a variety of law enforcement tasks as well as combat related missions. They may do convoy security or do traffic control points. A MP may be tasked with checking ids and guarding a base or may be tasked with handling EPW on the battlefield.

You are no more likely to be deployed than the next person in your unit.
