Hello everyone, I am prior service got out on a medical back in June 2000, I am currently considering on coming back this time in the Guard. But I have a few problems.

1. I got out because I got a torn on my ACL on my knee. Had scooped in 1998, since then, have be running on it, have gotten back up to running 3 miles every other day, and walking 3-5 miles every other day. I talked to a recruiter, he said if I got cleared by M.D. that MEPS could give me a GO on returning to service.

2. While I was in the service I also go diagnosed as Type II Diabetic, also talked to recruiter, and was told, If I am non-penicillin dependent (meaning that I only take pills) I took pills in the military before, why can’t I go back and still take pill in the service again. I could send Medical Records to MEPS showing proof that my Blood Sugar is maintained. Said that it would be up to MEPS to let me back in.

3. Also my eye site, I wear glasses, when I first got in my eye sight was ok to go in. Since then my eye site has gotten worse. It is still correctable to 20/20 – 20/30. Military requirement is no worse then -8.00. My eye sight is -8.75 in one eye and -9.00 in the other. Again, I talk to recruiter and was told, that my records show that I went in with corrective lens, and that I should be let back in with corrective lens.

It seems that if I can get back in, it would have to be with a lot of wavers. Is this possible? I’ve talk to an Army Reserve Recruiter and also a Guard Recruiter. I have also called the nearest MEPS, I don’t remember who I talked to, but, they did tell me it was pretty much up to the Doctors at MEPS as to if I can come back in.

So if anyone has gone through any of these problems or if you know of anyone that has gone through any of these problems, please respond to me.
