I'm joining the virginia national guard i leave for basic in 3 weeks, i'm going for combat mp after i'm done do i have to do it part time or can i go on active duty, because i didn't join the army for that weekend, and i wanna go active duty,
can anyone help me.

Well, evidently you did join the Army for that weekend duty, because that's what the National Guard is all about.

Once you have completed AIT, you are welcome to volunteer for missions and mobilizations, and get active duty time through the National Guard. Guard Bureau publishes a list of individual mobilization opportunities on the GKO website.
