Just wanted to say that I was able to answer both my BAH questions by just searching the various threads. And in the process determined that unless you have a super messed up situation all the BAH...
And I just had to buy a bunch of PT uniforms and ACUs for training this summer.
I think but I am not 100% sure Chief. My tax attorney friend gave me the documents.
IRS Publication 3, Cat. No. 46072M, Armed Forces Tax Guide. As for mileage look to IRS Form 2106.
To this day my wife regrets not listening to her dad on two key points. Not going to his alma matar(sic) (Cornell) and not trying for Air force for its AMEDD program.
I never thought I'd say it but Viceroy just made me glad all my kids are under 10.
Sorry, I don't know the specifics of his deployment. I only know he is a semester behind.
Congrats on completing BCT. You stated that Drilling and law school should not be that much of an issue. I concur. Our Armory's XO is doing it with no significant problems that he mentioned to me...
I signed up knowing that I would be driving 130+ miles each way to Drill and do so for most of my career as their are no slots for my MOS where I live. I don't like the drive, but don't hate it...
I was also able to do Vision at my own doctors, Form DA 7655.
Even though their uniforms are different I meant I had to look at their collars.
I have that mistake before as well. The SPC got a huge promotion that day. And I have called a W04 Lt. rather than Chief.
Tell me about it. I am finally getting good at the quick look for Army and then the air force guys show up.
Thought you guys may get a kick out of my rookie mistake.
I'm a newbie so I am on a steep learning curve. I just recently discovered that when someone walks confidently into the office I Drill at...
Check the forums on GEDs. There are new special rules regarding them and getting into the Guard.
Should have included an "I" in the title. JAG does its DCC training at Benning. In six weeks we learn just enough to be dangerous. :) After that its back to law school for 11 weeks.
After much delay, I finally got accepted into this summer's JAG training. Ft. Benning here I come. Now how the heck do I do 90 days of palnning in the remaining 45 days?
There are plenty of JAGs in Ohio. I'm one of them (but too new to be much of a use for you). Don't skip your AT the options for you go from bad to worse.
That said, I think you're going at it...
You can stop whenever you want. I have seen soldiers stop at the min., others when they max out, and others when they hit 2 mins. Your running needs to getbetter. At your age it should be around...
Wow. My initial training packing list for this summer includes cell phones and a laptop (required).
Someone at federal HQ granted credited 1 year time in grade (TIG) when I joined as a JAG as a 1LT. I'm not sure how common it is. Something similar may be available to you.
Sometimes I get lucky and get to stay alone. Frankly, it is helping me meet my new teammates so except for the snoring, I'm ok with it. Moreover, I'll have to do it at for my initial training this...
You can go home after drill. Ohio has a 75 mile rule before they set you up in a hotel with a roomate. As for your AT sometimes you are confirmed to base for those two weeks. As for the physical...
Great. I have to buy a bunch of UCP ACUs for training this summer ($600 worth) all to be replaced by a new design sometime thereafter. The thing I can't understand is why not have a "garrison" ACU...
+1. Your child missing you for weekend Drills is no different than a child with a traveling saleman parent. Now of course, your child can have the pride (when he is older) of knowing you serve. ...
Sodomy? That's an interesting one. So a felony conviction for sodomy, something whis has been legal for about 15 years now, is still a bar or is that aspect of the list outdated?
I am very proud to wear the uniform and frankly at my age lucky to be able to wear it. But having Vietnam vets thank me for my service when I am brand new felt weird. I don't know if this makes...
My question is how do you do lunch? Pretty much most my Guard unit goes out to lunch in uniform. And no one bats an eye. However we all change to civilian clothes Saturday night. I made the...
If you own it, you might get less flak for it. I was hairless until 20 and then it starting growing and never stopped. Really proud of my Tricep hair!
Ditto Chief, I have seen that companies often "invent facts" in order to fire an employee 6 months later. Also, I'm betting a small company because what CEO meets with regular employees. That said,...
At least for DC I know I signed two separate documents when I joined a few months ago, one accepting state commission and one for federal. I can't remember if they had the service obligation on...
I should note that I am at a HQ and are mostly but not entirely admin type forces.
I suspect that at most we have a "minor shelling" by N.K. like they did before to save face. My reasoning is that anything bigger is suicide for the N.K. Major shelling equals a U.S. ground war,...
Ditto. If you are not willing to deploy don't join. That said, it my short time in the Guard I have met many 20+ years Guardsmen from various MOS who have never deployed. In my speciality field it...
This is way out of my league, but as I read your post I wondered that even if you get dropped to E-4 is there a way to keep some of prior TIG for promotion purposes?
If you are not allowed to wear them they sell anti-chaff cream at most running shoe shoes that works pretty well. Frankly, for long runs good old Vaseline works great (compression shots also chaf...
Before nursing homes and assisted living facilities, many old Civil War vets would marry young women to take care of them. Sometimes it was truly a nursing situation, sometimes not. The women did...
This is why I do not use a debit card and recommend to my clients not to use one. I'd whether my credit card company be on the hook for the fraud vs. coming straight from my bank account. And if...
I have seen this a number of times before in my consumer law practice. If she stopped paying it is only a matter of time before she'll be forced into bankruptcy and then the creditors will go...
I cannot answer your specific questions but I second Polo08816 but would say a T50 school or better. The job market stinks for lawyers generally and is that much worse for new grads. Also consider...
Maj, Hineman thanks for the information. I was just looking at JAGCnet correctly, the Army made some significant changes to training to begin this July (no Ft. Lee phase, 1 week less at Ft. Benning,...
Anyone ever use Rocky S2V boots? Suppossedly they are newer and approved. I just picked them up and like them so far, but have not put any mileage on them yet.
I thought the same thing Chief and that there is a big back story that we have not heard which could prohibit her service anyways.
The legal market stinks now and is expected to be bad for the foreseeable future. If you love law, then go for it, but do NOT overspend on your education. As for being a Judge, it is 6 years of...
Only the commander. Dropped all those documents off today. Not in DEERS yet so looks like I'll be visiting HQ again in two weeks or so to get the remaining paperwork done.
Not yet. Also no Military ID. About the only thing I do have is my hotel room for the weekend. I assumed that the amount of paperwork I'd need to file out would take a good while and that was the...
Interesting. I swore in yesterday as a DC 1 Lt. and was told to show up this Saturday for my first drill in civilian clothes (business casual), and would need to get my own ACU's by next month's...
Just saw a Sapper school program on the Military Channel last night. I'm sure it can give some insights. Didn't know one had to kill their own dinner during the program.
As they say in financial circles past performance is no guarentee of future returns. But using that logic, the U.S.A.'s longest period without a major "war" since WWII was 16-17 years (Vietnam to...
