  • School Lengths; OCS, BOLC

Hi Everyone. I'm on a path to become an officer but have questions about school lengths due to my civilian job.

    How long is Traditional OCS?

    How long is Signal BOLC?

Can BOLC be broken up into phases?

Do the Captains career courses and/or Advanced courses have other names or are they one in the same?

Can anyone lay out the career progression timeline for me from SGT to MAJ if I was to attend Traditional OCS and be awarded Signal branch?

The traditional OCS program is 18 months. Some states will start a little earlier in the spring of each year.

Can't answer to your BOLC length but it's going to be less then 6 months. Very few are over that.

It cannot be broken up into phases.

OBC/BOLC are the same, Captain's Career Course/Advance Course are the same, or at least close enough for them to be the same.

DA PAM 600-3, is a good starting point. Some may not apply as you're in the NG.

As far as your other post about wanting to switch to the USAR, I'd suggest you look at TC, QM or OD as those branches feed into LG. LG and MP are the two largest branches in the USAR.
