  • Conditional Cancellation of USAR Contract

Is this possible for me to request for a conditional cancellation of my current contract with the USAR and attempt O9S with the California National Guard? I guess you can call it "conditional release" from my current contract as an enlisted. I am currently training as a Paralegal Specialist but insist on being an officer rather than retiring as an enlisted. I already have a Master Degree and working on my PhD, so sorry if I have too much pride. I am also a prior enlisted.

There is no conditional cancellation. Just tell your recruiter you no longer want USAR but to apply for NG. You will burn bridges but its your career.

You mean the bridge of no return (to the USAR). I think my unit and other units in the Army would support any Soldier, who wants to advance in his/her career path. For example, if my worker wants to apply to a supervisor or manager, who am I to stand in his/her way? I should support and encourage him/her to move up in the system rather than being dordrum in a particular position or rank. I will speak to the NG Officer Recruiter when I return home.
