  • AT twice in one year?

If someone transfers from an officer branch such as staff specialist and then re-accesses into a Chaplain slot, can this person do AT twice in the same year?

If the command is willing to fund it, then yes. Keep in mind Soldiers can only do 29 days oa AT per year.

This is the issue we're running into. We had some soldiers in our unit do a 3 week Germany ODT in October. With the current funding situation, there's been talk that they may not be able to participate in another AT this year. For our unit, this creates an issue because we need to have a roster of set platoons since we're supposed to be doing platoon live fire lanes for this year's AT in Fort Drum. Couple that with the fact that our battalion might be using our unit to backfill the vacancies of another unit that will have a 3 week Botswana ODT.

My question is does the Captain's Career Course - Reserve Component 2 week resident phase count as an AT? I was hoping to attend that this summer (as a 1LT) and still participate in this year's AT.

Schools should be funded under a different pot of money.

There are other fund sources that will get a Soldier far more than 29 days of training, it's up to the command whether or not they want to pay for it.

In my situation, I would be in two seperate commands.
