  • Afghanistan deployment

I will be reclassing to 11B in October and upon completion I would like to get into a unit being deployed(it was called cross leveled in the reserve, not sure what they call it in the guard). Does anyone have any knowledge of or are apart of an infantry unit that is deploying within the next few months? Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that any response to this question would be subject to any Taliban on google search. Unless there are components of OPSEC that I misunderstand your question is just asking for a breach in it. I would ask your readiness NCO. We had soldiers from 4 different states deploy with us.

You guys never cease to amaze me with your ideas on opsec. I can read the usa today and find out who is deploying. That is not opsec.

If you post that the flight leaves at 0900 hours from runway xyz....that is an opsec violation.

Thank you specialist. Although I appreciate your OPSEC concerns I didn't ask for exact dates or times or even airports they'll be leaving from ie exactly what realitycheck said. I simply asked about possible deployments in the future.

I would reference the afore posting members to AR 195-6.

Then reference the material that states what is opsec because I'm not going on a hunt to find it.

And regarding the OP: My state has 5 deployments within the next year and they're all support elements.

Specialist stop trying to argue. Its not opsec, and that regulation covers polygraphs.

However misguided my comments, this regulation is, nonetheless, an informative read. I trust that my efforts have met productive ends. Upon my return from PT this morning, I sat and reviewed countless regulations on the subject. My prior statement deeming the inquisition of this Sergeant to be a potential breach were misguided and pointless. For that I apologize. I have always been taught that it is better to be safe than sorry with OPSEC. From what I hear, the unit Readiness NCO is the go to for deployment seekers.

Orelladanza, you were trying to do the right thing so no harm, no foul.

I went to this conference this week and they had a speaker who was very knowledgeable on OPSEC.

Is it me, or does anyone feel we need an NGB or AKO based site where one could simply log in via CAC and volunteer/apply? You think they'd have thought of that by now. Or maybe I'm just a dummy and don't know about it.

Well I'm not going to say it, but....yes, there is a CAC enabled site to volunteer called "Tour of Duty." https://mobcop.army.mil/tod/Default_new.aspx

I just went to the shot and it looks really cool. Can anyone tell me what we can apply for? I took the tutorial. But it doesn't say exactly what I'm eligible for.

                              Really?

You have to use the search function to put in your details, MOS, rank and so on and then hit search. And then wahla, tours appear like magic.
