  • need help choosing mos!

I made a decent score on my asvab and several jobs are available to me. I'm a female college student. My plan is to take the spring semester off and complete basic training and ait at one time, but I need to be back to school the following fall. I will be joining ROTC the fall after basic. I'm really stuck on picking a job that will get me there and back in as little time as possible. Based on my knowledge, the mos I choose will be used as a stepping stone to becoming an officer. Before I start ROTC, I will be able to choose ten officer positions, and my former mos will not matter. Anyone know a mos that has a short ait? I'm interested in the medical field, but most of those aits are too long. Thanks!!

68G - Patient Admin Specialist is a 7 week AIT if you can get that job. It's often rare but it is in the medical field.

If you're shipping in Jan/Feb you could do any of the 92 series, 92A - Logistical Specialist, 92Y - Supply Spec. are a couple of decent ones. 88M is also a good option.

I always recommend going in and learning a skill. Even if you have no mechanical inclination, you may want to look at any of the 91 (Mechanic) fields. It's a skill you can learn that you can use for the remainder of your life.

            Best of luck!!

Go 15P, network within your unit, go to OCS (or ROTC, whatever your choosing), then use your connections and experience and become an Aviator. That's my 2 cents.

If you're joining ROTC as soon as you get back, why are you even bothering to enlist?

I believe SMP Cadets get additional benefits that traditional ROTC Cadets don't.

Good call; still learning about SMP (from my "cadidiots" no less).
