  • 68W- Job duties as a 68W?

I am a Junior in High School and plan to join the National Guard this February and hopefully get the MOS 68W.
I was just wondering, what are the job duties you will perform as a 68W in the National Guard?
What drill do you perform, and what is done in the 2 weeks during the summer?

    From GoArmy.com

    OVERVIEW

The health care specialist is primarily responsible for providing emergency medical treatment, limited primary care, and health protection and evacuation from a point of injury or illness.
    JOB DUTIES

Administer emergency medical treatment to battlefield casualties
Assist with outpatient and inpatient care and treatment
Prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis
Prepare patients, operating rooms, equipment and supplies for surgery

So far during drill I've done the same stuff everyone else does... paperwork, required training, PFT, etc. I missed Annual Training (the 2 week thing) so I'm not sure what they do there. As for what you're actually going to be doing, well that depends on who you're attached to. I'm attached to an artillery battery and state QRF, so my experience will differ from someone working a hospital or someone with an infantry platoon.
