  • Current 35M @ DLI with mos questions

I finished ait and 35M school and I am currently in DLI for a language. Does anyone know if I will be able to be a 35M without a language?

You'll reclass. I recommend getting ahead of the power curve, and addressing this with your chain of command now.

I have a question. I speak native Arabic from Egypt and scored 2+ 2+ on the dlpt and I also took the dlab and passed, do I have to spend the whole 20 wks in ft huachuca or it's modified. Also as far as the gurad goes, where do you think I would end be as far as army wise. I woul like to be attached to an SF unit would that be possible? Or even try SF selection.
I am trying to get into the cal guard the recruiter is waiting for my contract signature. I have the reserve on my radar but I am undecided yet. Your input would be greatly appreciated . Thank you.

You'll still have to attend the AIT portion and where you end up depends on where your unit puts you.

You'll got to BCT and depending on what you come in as (ie - MOS w/ language v 09L), it will be a different experience. As for where the guard will put you, you'll get options depending on your state and what MOS you choose.

SF is a whole other animal.... unless you enlist as 18X (which I'm not sure you can at this particular moment), it's a tryout process. As far as support, not sure... SFHunter will probably chime in.

I am qualified for 35M, 19D Guard side 38B, 37F(CA, Phsyops) Reserve side, i know i am hard worker and to be honest i do not want to sit around the desk my whole 4 years in the guard. i am not trying to bash the guard but i hear more and more that the reserve side is better now days, i was also recommended to go to the 37F as i have a native background and language. but also was recommended 35M (Guard) due to the same filed i work currently in law enforcement. if i go 37F reserve then i wouldn't be able to try out SF. If i go 35M guard then i get to get some exposer to SF world and after few years i can try it out. its been tough trying to figure out what direction to stir to.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble. But 35M are not assigned or attached to SF. So the only way you would have exposure, is if you happen to run into an ODA overseas on a deployment.

Also, Psyops is not an entry-level MOS. Meaning, you can't "enlist" in it right off the bat... it is a process to reclass after you do time in a feeder MOS.

You might want to take a look at the numbers when it comes to NG and USAR. Guess who is getting more personnel cuts, losing missions, losing funding and the like?

Psyops is can be an entry level for enlisted but not officers.

LAPD if you're goal is SF, why not just pursue the 18X route?

One reason, is that its not available in CA ARNG. They require "at least" two years of military service/experience before they will consider application/try-out.

                      No, its' not.

Specifically, it states that it is not an Entry Level position. In addition, any soldier wanting to be PsyOps has to "Meet career management and development criteria contained in AR 614-200."
