  • 13F OSUT

Hi there, I've enlisted as 13F for OSUT at Ft. Sill in OK. Does anyone have an info about BCT graduation? I've heard different things from different sources. Some people say they still hold a BCT graduation and then the non-OSUT folks go home and the OSUT folks go across the street to their AIT barracks. Any info would be greatly appreciated. My girlfriend wants to attend my BCT graduation if I have one, since it will be around Thanksgiving (2013) and she'll have some days off around then. If not, she wants to try and come to my AIT graduation but may not be able to if school starts back up before then (I believe its in the third week of January, 2014). Thank you in advance for any info on this!

You won't be doing OSUT. You'll graduate BCT then get your stuff and head over to the AIT barracks. From there they'll probably give you the weekend off to be with your family. It's not guaranteed though.

That is incorrect. Our 13 series were considered OSUT. Fort Sill houses the Field Artillery School, the primary training facility for field artillery soldiers and marines worldwide; the Field Artillery Training Center, home of basic combat, one-station unit training, and advanced individual training.

Family day was Thursday for all, graduation was Friday for all but then the 13 series had to be back to battery by a certain time becuase they loaded up on trucks and headed back over the tracks for the AIT portion. They were not given the weekend off with their families.

What are you basing your assumptions on?

Basing it on the fact that I'm a 13B who went through BCT and AIT at Ft Sill last year. We were sent across the tracks and then our AIT cadre released us for the weekend if we had family. It was not OSUT.

Fair enough. Your experience is a year more current than mine, so I accept your response as valid.

Former 13D: I did BCT at Ft. Benning with 5 other 13Ds, and a few 13Bs and 13Fs. 13 series is not considered an OSUT.
