  • College student - questions about joining national guard

I am a junior in college right now (major is nursing BSN). I am transferring to a different college that offers an ROTC program this fall. I really would like to join the National Guard this fall and possibly take the spring semester off from school in order to go to basic, Etc. I want to join the guard while in college, but after I graduate I want to be an active duty officer in the Army. Is there a way I can join the National Guard and go to basic and AIT in spring 2015/summer 2015 and somehow by the time I graduate "bridge" over to an officer through ROTC? I haven't talked to a recruiter yet just because I need to lose about 30 pounds (which I am working on). And because I have college credit, is there any way I could go into basic as a higher rank? Also, I would love my MOS to be 68W (health care specialist) - is this MOS hard to get into, Etc considering the fact that i've taken many nursing courses (a&p's, biologies, etc.)
