I have a quick question, I apologize if this has already been covered, but I have a strong desire to serve, and so would like to know if the fact that I used to smoke marijuana in college will disqualify me from the guard. While at that time, I smoked fairly regularly (1/week), I have not touched nor been around it for the past 8 years. I do not have any criminal history. I have worked and received a security clearance (non-DoD) at my previous position, so I know that I could potentially qualify for a future clearance. For the purpose of full disclosure I was honest about my past with a member of the guard over the phone, before talking to a recruiter, who informed me that any usage whatsoever in your lifetime is cause for immediate disqualification, however I was also told by a separate ANG member, that due to the amount of time passed between my smoking and the present, it would not matter. If anyone could clarify this it would be appreciated.
