  • What should I do to get ready?

I'm only 16 years old, but joining the National Guard has been one of my dreams. I'm getting close to 17 and I am getting more excited each day. I'm physically fit and I believe I'm mentally ready. My parents are behind me 100%. They also feel that this is a great thing for me. I'm a 5'6 female and i'm 130 pounds. I wanted to know if there is anything I could do before I turn 17 and join?????? oh yeah! I'm kinda flat-footed and I hear all these rumors about that could disqualify you. Should I worry?

No, being flat footed is not a disqualifying factor.

Stay out of trouble and don't get hurt.

Pick up an ASVAB study guide from a local library or bookstore, the better your score on the ASVAB the better your job opportunities.

Contact a Recruiter now to start discussing the process along with a list of available jobs (MOS's). You can start doing research now to ensure you select a job that you'll enjoy.

On a side note, it's outstanding that you're being proactive. Not found often enough with young adults today!!
