Hello, I am 19 years old and I'm seriously thinking about enlisting in the Guard. The only thing I am worried about is the PT test. I'm not
fit but I do work out in an on/off pattern. I'm 6 feet 1 inches tall and weigh 230 pounds. Could someone give me tips on what I need to do to be ready for the basic training if I were to join?

    Thank you

    Re: Fitness and Weight

Start running, do pushups, do sit ups, do flutter kicks, lock yourself in a room with no windows and conduct pushups until your walls sweat due to the pain leaving your body (they can still do this, right?), and do jumping jacks.

Do a search on prepping for the PT test...you'll get a lot of ideas.

YES, first thing you need to know is it is possible! Last winter I was 230 (I'm 6ft tall and 18 yoa) now i'm 193 and shipping on the 27th of this month. It took a few months. I lost weight through correct dieting methods and lots of jogging and biking. You can message me for specifics.
