  • Passed Stripes for Skills!

I passed my Stripes for Skills yesterday!

Pushups: Needed 15 to pass, did 17. Could have done over 20 but stopped early to save energy for rest of test. Scored 63.

Situps: Needed 42 to pass, did 44. Could have done over 50, but stopped early to save energy for run. Scored 62.

2 Mile Run: Needed 21:42 to pass, did 15:35 -- My best record yet! Sargent told me that I beat his normal time. Scored 100.

    Grand total score: 225.

Since I know I could have done more on the Push-ups and Sit-ups, I figure I can realistically get close to 250.

Now my goal through Basic and AIT will be to reach 250-275.

The knowledge part was very easy if you read your information. Sgt told me that most Stripes for Skills participants do not do very well because they don't bother to read and study the information. Boggles my mind because the potential increase in pay alone helped me to make sure I knew the info well.

He did mention that I was a little too uptight during the Drill & Ceremony test. Don't know how that was possible, but I am not complaining and I'm glad I passed!

Does anyone know if the Drill Sgts at Basic get this info ahead of time and know that you already can pass the tests no problem so that they then may push you to do more?

all of this stuff is great to know when going into basic, which is what you should be thinking about (trust me, you will be pushed). Don't worry about what they know or think of you, just give 100% 100% of the time i.e. if you can pass your PT test right now, you should shoot for at least 300 on it by the end of basic. Good luck!

              Re: Passed Stripes for Skills!

              Looking for some help:

I have been studying for the Stripes for Skills test and I am ready to take the online portion of the test.

The only problem; I can't access the SfS webpage. Whenever I go to the address, I get the warning that the Security Certificate is expired. What's up?

Also, I downloaded what I thought was all of the DoD certificates, maybe I am missing one?

How much is on the online portion and how much is done in front of the Sergeant/ Drill Sergeant.

                  Re: Passed Stripes for Skills!

I'm also a bit confused with this. I took the online portion of the SfS test and passed with 100%, gave me a certificate of completion and all that jazz. Is that it as far as general knowledge testing goes? Now all I have to do is pass the PT test next drill?

Shipping for Benning on May 15th, second and final drill April 21-22. Would love to bump up a paygrade.
