  • How to don the Green Beret

I am currently in the VA ANG. I am a Specialist and will have been MOS Q for one years time in 5 months. I know that there are NGSF units in Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Alabama. How do I go about getting in touch with one of these units to see if I can have a "try-out?" Furthermore, would I be able to even have a try out or do I have to wait for my contract to run out with my state? I hope this isn't the case. Thanks

You don the beret in the same manner as the Black and Tan berets.

Lol I try. Some posters are like newspaper editors and try to grasp your attention with their thread titles but then the title goes against the main question.

My ultimate goal is to achieve the Green Beret. I am sorry if you feel that the title doesn't substantially reflect the subject matter consisted in the post. There are thousands of posts on here a day. Therefore, trying to add a title that will result in someone clicking on the thread, to offer a means of help most would assume, or help me with my question in general, is important. Again, sorry if my post reminded you of something your mediocre local "newspaper editors" would come up with.

            "TO ACHIEVE THE GREEN BERET".

Well, threads are seen by everyone who roams this site. The one qualified to answer your question is SF Hunter who is also a moderator. He will respond to your query. But he has answered these type of questions numerous times. I suggest you search for the answer on here in the meantime.

Here is some help. So click the link below.

Please refer to the prior/current enlisted requirements thread and training timeline. Once you meet the minimum requirements (ie 12 months MOSQ), then go to the prior service recruit path on the Special Forces webpage http://specialforces.nationalguard.com/ and fill out the "Apply for Special Forces" form at the end of the path.

Then a SF Precision recruiter will be in contact with you and get you started on the right path and in contact with a specific NG SF unit.
