  • ROTC and National Guard

I am part of the Army ROTC on my campus although I am not contracted yet. I am a sophomore in college and I have already done my medical qualifications and applied for a scholarship. I might not be able to contract until August 2014 unless I get a 3.5 year scholarship. I read online that you don't have to go to Basic Training and AIT when you are part of the ROTC. Does that only apply once you get contracted? If I joined the National Guard before I contract would I have to go to Basic and AIT over this summer? Also do I have to go to MEPS or is the ROTC medical exam good enough already?

Also how friendly is National Guard to a graduate school? I am looking at getting my masters in education after I finish my bachelor degree. Is being an officer in the National Guard gonna take up too much time to do my masters?
