  • IRR Army Reserve to ANG Officer

    Hello all,

I am a 35 years old enlisted soldier currently in the IRR with two years left of service. I have my four year degree and need one more year to complete my masters. I am interested in becoming an officer in the National Guard and was wondering what the process is like. I spoke with a "specialist" and was informed that I had to wait until I was 3 months away from completing my IRR time before I could start looking at the NG. Is this true?

    Thanks for the assist.

No, its not true. You could join today assuming you were qualified and there was a slot available. Go speak with a recruiter.

What an odd answer you received! Sometimes I can decode these wrong answers, and see how the person gave you the right answer to some other question, but I can't think of a question that would be correctly answered by that statement.

Anyway, talk to a recruiter right now. IRR enlistments are usually pretty easy.
