  • Commission age waiver

I just had a quick question everyone. Here are my details.

    -Currently an 09S.
-Have served a total of 19 years so far in various branches.
-Was a former SNCO before enlisting as an 09S.
-Got hurt in OCS, healed now but will turn 42 before next OCS class.

Is anyone aware of any possible chance (considering the above information) of an age waiver of even just 1 year for me to finish this quest? From what I've read the 42 year age rule was put in place to allow joining members a chance of a full 20 year career and thus be able to retire by the mandatory age of 62.
With almost 20 years under my belt is their a chance at all that I may be allowed an age waiver?
Is anyone aware of exceptions or loopholes to regulation?

Thanks for any help and advice

    Re: Commission age waiver

If you can get the Secretary of the Army or higher to sign an exception to policy, then you may commission after your 42d birthday. It is highly, highly unlikely that you'll get the answer you want, and it will likely take a year just to get a no.

What did your OCS cadre say when you raised this issue to them?
