I too remember a lot of debate about using the Vibram products.

The plank is much better for that besides situps cause herniated disks.

Which is why the Rower was supposed to replace sit-ups in the revised APFT, but that got canned. I personally like rowers much better because it doesn't put the strain on your back. We did Rowers at AMA vice sit-ups and it was a god send, but I got home to my RTI and we do sit-ups. Oh well.

The current test will remain for the forseeable future, but what we might see now according to the CSA is additional MOS specific type PT tests.

I personally like the prone row. A man's measure of strength! HOOAH....

I've read enough credible material to agree with you that backwards is healthier on the body parts than forward. Notice "body parts" not "body". But the purpose is to have the best score you can get. That score then determines a few things in your future. Anything besides forward running is going to be slower, so it defeets (ha) the purpose.

The best abdominal exercise is without a doubt the atomic sit-up.

Next time you have drill tell your squad leader that you want to try the atomic sit up. There he can square you away and give you a good point of instruction on how to perform the exercise. Make sure you follow directions EXACTLY as described so that you do not injure yourself.
