I leave for BCT next summer and I was wondering if going hiking with lots of weight would benefit me?

    Re: Hiking

for sure! One thing to note is that you should definitely start with low weight or none at all if you aren't that fit anyway, and work your way up to higher weights as you progress. Also, make sure you're wearing good shoes or boots to hike with. Converse or skate shoes are not going to cut it once you start adding weight to your ruck.

I agree! You're going to do a ruck march at some point in BCT, not to mention lugging around gear, your rifle, etc. Preparing your body for the extra weight will definitely help you avoid injury.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to what you can expect during BCT: What to expect at BCT

      Good luck!

Maybe you can peruse and search the forum? There is plenty of great information all over the place including workout routines and gear advice if you would just put in the effort.
