my boyfriend is down there for infantry too right now!! i wonder if you guys know each other...

Does anyone know if were allowed to use Cell Phones??? It's not that I care or am attached or anything, but during my Shippers prep at RSP they told me to bring my Cell phone cause I would get to use it on Sundays. I didn't believe them then, but I talked to my recruiter yesterday and he said I probably would too, Anyone know if thats true? I figure since im Infantry and it's Benning there wasn't a chance it Click HERE Click HERE Click HERE Click HERE, but everyone else seems to think so lol.

I'm going to find out when i'll be getting sent, recruiter was saying prolly September, but I told him the sooner the better, I'm ready to go this Friday if I could...

I'm surprised you can bring a cell... instead of the iphone, I'll bring my other phone, or stop that for 4 months so I don't pay 100 bux, and get a cell with a 50 dollar preapaid on it

I'm 15P (Aviation Operations Specialist). I got no clue how I ended up going to Benning. Should be pretty fun though.

Benning for the most part for BCT is split up. (They do have test companies where they mix infantry with support MOS's) Everyone in my company was support. That is how you ended up at Benning.

Have fun. There isn't anything like going to basic training. It really does go by fast even though at the time I thought it would never end.

I am 09S but plan on being Infantry so I chose Benning. I live 2 hours from Fort Jackson and that's where they originally wanted to send me till I objected.

DS Allison was there a couple months ago. Who knows if he still is. He was pretty cool to us, but our contact with DSs at 30th was limited. We dealt almost strictly with the processing NCOs. The Civilians were actually harder to deal with than the NCOs, as it happens.

Yea, my processing NCO was SSG Brownlee. Lol man he had some energy. "Tighten it up!" Civilians anywhere on a training site are absolute a holes. Can't stand them.

Aint that the truth! Back in the day 1981-82 when I was a young PFC the pricks in the post office almost always rubbed me wrong...That is until you call them out. Then it is a new ball game. Being a former Marine it gets worst when your in processing at boot camp and you have some piece of sheoit swabbie navy corpsman treatin you like sheiot and then he is giving you shots. Dental corpsman were the worst. Gives the new meaning to inter- service rivalry.

I'll never miss any portion of in-processing at 30th AG. Shipping down-range to Sand Hill was almost a welcome change...almost. At least the DFAC staff at Sand Hill listened when we said what we wanted for chow (most of the time). LOL

Re: Fort Benning, GA (All things related)

I am 11B and i'm shipping the 3rd of June. I'm going OSUT at Ft. Benning. I am also a student and my classes are starting the 24th of Aug. I've been told I probably won't get back until the 2nd week of Sept. (?)
Do they give any preference to students at reception?

Would they allow me to bring some stuff like flashcards and a small tree ID book along for use during free time? I'm a forestry student, taking dendrology this fall.

Would I even have free time (reception, fire guard, etc. where I would be able to get any amount of study time?

                                Thanks,
