  • Active to NG

This is my first time her but I've been reading and this seems to be the place with some good answers
I am active Army now with 8 years I ets in 6 months. I am currently an E6 and my mos is 25M. I will be joining the Virginia National Guard. My concern is I will most likely have to reclass. The mos that I have on my top 3 are:
25B: Information Systems Operator - Analyst
    35F/96B: Intelligence Analyst
79T: Recruiting and Retention NCO (Army National Guard)
If you’ve attended any of these AIT in the past year as a prior service person can you please share your experience with me.

    Re: Active to NG

You will need to reclass, because Virginia has no 25M slots at all. You won't get 79T unless you apply and are selected to become an AGR recruiter.

Below find the MOSs with the most vacancies in grade E6 in Virginia:

Duty Skill Duty Skill Desc Vac
    25B Info tech spec 21

      Re: Active to NG

Thank you very much, I will either choose 25B or 46Q since I am an instructor at the Defense Information School.

        Re: Active to NG

You will probably want to find out where they are located before you make your decision. Depending on where you'll be living you could end up driving many hours to drill.

If you know your stuff in IT, go 25B and then think about Warrant Officer school.

            Re: Active to NG

Thank you all for the great reply. I do have another question.

I was looking on ATRRS for course date for the 25B. My question is what is Nevada Regional Training Institute, (Information For Course 113-25B10(R). Are they saying that the NG soldiers do not take the 25B course at FT. Gordon?

            "Special Information:

            1. In accordance with TRADOC Directive, this RC course is logically phased, structured and sequenced for completion within 13 months (re: Memorandum, HQ TRADOC, ATTG-CD, 5 Nov 04, Subject: Total Army Training System Courseware (TATS-C) and Reserve Component Duty Military Occupational Specialty Qualification (RC DMOSQ) in One Year)

            2. In compliance with NGB and USAR agreements with Signal Center proponents in February 2003, this RC course is specifically designed for modular completion based on individual pace as provided and accessed via the Fort Gordon University of Information Technology's (UIT) Lifelong Learning Center web site. The academic hours indicated in the Programs of Instruction (POIs) and the CMP are the times allocated for group-paced (lock-step) completion of the AC resident course, and do not reflect the actual training times that may be required for RC individual-paced completion using lessons that apply DL technology via UIT. At the time of this CMP writing, the Professional Education Command (PEC) is completing a pilot course to validate and ensure the RC course completion times are attainable within 13 months."

I know it was a lot to read but thatnk you.
