reposted from: Re: Military Pay Debate – Cut Pay or Troops?

If you want to be more informed or active in organizations that work on issue that directly affect you as a soldier, or veteran, here are a few:

    The National Guard Association

The Enlisted Association of the Army National Guard of the United States

    The Reserve Officers Association

    The Military Officers Association

The U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association

Association of the United States Army

    The Non Commissioned Officers Association

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America

These are a few of the key associations that are politically active on the part of thier members and soldiers everywhere, not to mention the various veterans organizations that exist. Membership is highly recommended if you are are planning simply an enlistment or a career in the Army/ARNG/USAR, or have seperated or retired.

They will help to keep you up-to-date and informed on a variety of issue that affect you and the military, and the benefits you earn as such.

for those of us in Texas, the best one is the National Guard Association of Texas. You can become a life member for one price, you get a magazine every so often and discounts for things such as dental, life insurance, etc. It was always easier to become a life member than to put up with your local NCO bothering you every year, so I became a life member a looong time ago.
