  • Extra drills and extra AT

Is it possible to drill with other units as long as you satisfy drill dates wth your own unit? And can someone do extra annual training with another unit?
Last day of school is May 7 and would like to do 3 extra drills and 3 extra ATs over the summer.

Ask your unit about RMAs, they budget these for extra help during the week. Also you get a retirement point for each RMA you work.

Yes you can drill and do AT with another unit. It's being considered for me since I'll be at school during AT with my current unit.

But to do additional over what is obligatory, you'll have to speak to your command.

3 extra drills AND ATs? You think you can just put your name down on anyone's roster because you are bored or need money?

Being short on drill time can be worked out in a few ways. 1000% easier if they were for good reasons and not because you just didn't show up a few months.

Each Soldier is only allowed 48 UTAs and 15 days of AT per fiscal year. If you want to serve more, then ask your chain of command about RMA days, as other posts have mentioned. You may also wish to volunteer for additional school training. The problem is, it never happens exactly when you want it to.

            No doubt!!

            RMAs:
            1) You only get one per day & it's the same pay as a MUTA 1, so half what you get for a day of drill, and there's no BAH.

            2) You can do a max of 15 RMAs & 15 of another RMA-type pay code. The RMAs are normally funded a few thousand dollars a quarter to the company level. The other pay code isn't normally funded unless they get permission for it.

Your best bet is schools, &/or orders for taskers & what not. Just make your readiness aware you're available & would like to work whenever possible over the summer.

You can actually get 29 days of AT but most commands will frown on home station AT.

RMA/ADA's et al, the funding is hit miss. Like the the others, schools are you best bet (CLS, HAZMAT, armorer, WLC, ect). Just make sure you can pass the APFT & height/weight.

Can your unit make it mandatory for you to attend AT?...Even though you have already completed WLC (2 weeks in length) for the fiscal year?

Yes, because those are two different things. If this is a hardship, make a formal request for relief through your chain of command. List legitimate reasons why it is a hardship.

Right. Unless there is a hardship/emergency, or you participated in a recent state mission...it is quite difficult to get out of AT. Not only is it important for commanders to have their people there, it is a major opportunity for you to develop chemistry with your unit.
